For Gemma Johnson, it was a promising future as she attended the university in the United Kingdom. She was working on a degree in performance arts when her dreams all of a sudden were derailed by a life-changing diagnosis. In her early twenties, she learned that she had fibromyalgia, a neurological disease that causes chronic pain and stiffness in the body among other symptoms.
Johnson went through very difficult times and big changes in her life but she never gave in to depression and pushed through. Today, she is a successful bodybuilding competitor and a certified fitness coach looking to help other people with challenges exercise through their pain and hardship.
